Phil X Opens Up About Sharing Stage With Former Bon Jovi Guitarist

Phil X, current Bon Jovi guitarist, shared his experience performing alongside former band guitarist Richie Sambora in a new with Different Stages Radio. Both guitarists performed Bon Jovi’s signature hit ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ together on stage.

“It was weird. But you know we’re all professionals and we’re all adults so it wasn’t that weird. It was kind of like let it be what it’s going to be,” Phil X explained about the unique situation.

“Even they called me. Because it was last minute addition to the whole thing,” he continued. “And then they said, ‘Hey, so Richie’s going to play ‘Livin’ on a Prayer.’ Is that a problem?’ I’m like, ‘No man. We’re all adults. We can handle anything you know and it’s rock and roll. And it’s for a good cause so who’s gonna back out of that.”

The performance showcased a professional understanding between both guitarists. This moment marked a significant milestone in Bon Jovi’s recent history.

Guitar World revealed that Phil X’s connection with Bon Jovi started before his official role. He first stepped in for Sambora during several tour dates in 2011.

Phil X became a permanent member in 2016. This appointment came three years after Sambora’s departure from the band.

The collaboration took place at the Rock For Responders LA wildfire benefit concert. Guitar World highlighted how both guitarists united for this charitable cause.
