The musician shared a video playing Sammy Hagar’s ‘I Can’t Drive 55′ and dressing like The Red Rocker with a wig. “Happy ’55’ Birthday,” Gass wrote in the caption by tagging Black.

After the recent incident, Gass issued an apology for his Donald Trump comment and then deleted it. He shared his first post after that. Black shared other birthday messages on his IG stories but didn’t include Kyle’s post.

During a show in Sydney, Australia, Gass got backlash for his comments about the Trump assassination attempt. “Don’t miss Trump next time,” the rocker said while making a birthday wish on stage.

The joke made people laugh at the show but caused trouble online. Gass later apologized in a now-deleted post, saying, “The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous, and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anymore.”

Kyle added, “What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret and pain I’ve caused.”

Later, Black stopped touring with Tenacious D, writing on social media, “I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form. After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

The musician also told Variety that Tenacious D will continue as a band. He noted, “We need to take a break. Everybody needs a break sometime. And we’ll be back.” “Yeah, we’re friends,” Black also replied when asked if he had talked to Gass since canceling the tour, “That hasn’t changed. These things take time sometimes… And we’ll be back when it feels right.”

Black shifted focus to other projects after the Tenacious D controversy. The movie adaptation of the video game ‘Borderlands’ is now out. A video of Black with the character he voiced, Claptrap, was posted online. The video received a lot of negative comments due to the Tenacious D drama.
