Rick Anderson was born on August 1, 1947, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was one of four sons born to Clarence Anderson and Kathryn (Neubauer) Anderson. His life changed in the 1980s when he met Marina, his future wife. Together they raised their daughter, Marina Mignon. The family lives in Merced.

Anderson passed away on December 16, 2022. The Tubes released a statement after his passing, writing, “We lost our brother on 12/16/22. Rick brought a steady and kind presence to the band for 50 years. His love came through his bass. RIP.”
