Former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody was one of the founding members of the band. He played a key role in their debut album ‘Fallen.’ However, he left the band in October 2003, just after the album’s success. Today, only a few people know what he is doing.
Success With Evanescence

Moody and singer Amy Lee met at a youth camp in 1994, forming Evanescence. They performed acoustic sets in local bookstores and coffeehouses before releasing their debut album, ‘Fallen’ in 2003. The album, featuring hits like ‘My Immortal’ and ‘Bring Me to Life,’ combined gothic rock and nu-metal, earning critical acclaim and multiple Grammy Awards.
Released in the spring of 2003, ‘Fallen’ quickly gained popularity, selling over 141,000 copies in its first week. It peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and stayed in the Top 10 for 43 weeks.
The Departure And Next Chapter Of His Career

In October 2003, Moody departed from Evanescence. His departure was attributed to creative differences and personal reasons. Lee revealed the news to MTV, saying that he walked out of the band’s world tour in Berlin.
Seven years after his departure, the guitarist shared a lengthy message about why he left the band, revealing that he wanted Lee to leave the band during their fight. Moody added that he wanted his bandmate to hurt as much as he did, but also admitted that he wants ‘nothing more in this world than for Evanescence to have decades of success and connection with the millions of people.’
Moody was later replaced with Terry Balsamo.
After leaving Evanescence, Moody focused on songwriting and production, working with artists like Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Anastacia, Lindsay Lohan, Bo Bice, Daughtry, and Celine Dion. In 2009, he formed a new rock band, We Are the Fallen, with former Evanescence members John LeCompt and Rocky Gray. Their debut album, ‘Tear the World Down,’ was released in May 2010.
Net Worth

Ben Moody’s net worth is estimated at around $8 million. This wealth comes from his successful music career, including his role as the lead guitarist and co-founder of Evanescence, as well as his songwriting and producing work for various artists.
Where Is He Now?

While he is now away from the fame and spotlights, Moody reimagined songs from the ‘Fallen’ in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the album and began uploading them to his YouTube channel in 2024.
