Joel Faviere Controversy and Get Scared’s Response

Operation Child Guardian in Polk County, Florida, led to the arrest of multiple individuals for possession of sexual material involving minors, and promotion of sexual performance of a minor. These included Faviere. The legal system took decisive action. Faviere began serving his 12-year sentence at Blackwater River Correctional Facility in 2018.

Get Scared’s then-current vocalist Nick Matthews addressed the situation with clear condemnation. “Although his time in the band was very short, we feel he has tarnished the very name we worked so hard to build up for the past nine years,” Matthews stated.

He said he had a minimal personal contact with Faviere. The band immediately distanced themselves from their former member to protect their fanbase.

Fearless Records confirms Faviere’s had a brief tenure with Get Scared. He joined in late 2011 as Nicholas Matthews’ replacement. The band released their EP ‘Built for Blame, Laced With Shame’ in 2012. This was their only official release with Faviere on vocals.
