According to Consequence, Ward, his fiancée Zelena, and two others became victims of a drunk driving incident in Greenville, South Carolina.

The fatal collision occurred just after 9 p.m. on December 31st. Ward’s Subaru SUV was struck by a 2012 BMW while pulling out of a driveway. The impact sent their vehicle off the road and into a tree. All four passengers died in the crash. The driver responsible, 31-year-old Nicholas Shane Meeks, faces four counts of felony DUI. He remains held without bond.

Ward left behind a modest financial situation. His son Kai remains as his sole heir. The family faced financial issues after his death. A GoFundMe campaign was launched to cover funeral expenses. The fundraising page stated: “Josh dedicated his life to the music he created, the martial arts he practiced and instilled into everyone who had the privilege of training with him, and last but not least his son, Kai.”

The financial aspects of his estate remains limited, but it seems the drummer didn’t leave much behind. The GoFundMe campaign has two goals: to provide a proper memorial service and to create a fund for his son Kai’s future. It currently raised $26,640 in donations.
