The untimely death of Snot’s frontman Lynn Strait raised questions about the distribution of his estate. According to Los Angeles Times, Strait split his time between his separated parents’ homes in Santa Barbara and various band members’ residences.

According to MTV News, Strait’s life ended on December 11, 1998, during his journey from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles. A fatal two-car crash occurred on a highway off-ramp. The accident also claimed the life of his dog Dobbs. The dog was the band’s mascot and appeared on the cover of their 1997 debut album ‘Get Some.’

According to reports, the Strait family requested donations in Lynn’s memory for specific causes. These included the Sheriff’s Council, Treatment for Substance Abuse, and the Tourette Syndrome Association.

Strait lived in the homes of his parents, James and Marie Strait, in Santa Barbara. He was unmarried but had a girlfriend at the time of his death.

Strait’s estate was estimated to be worth between $1.5-2 million. He was unmarried, and in such cases, the deceased’s parents become the primary beneficiaries of the estate.

His estate’s value includes royalties from Snot’s recordings and potential future earnings from unreleased material. The specific details of the distribution remain private.

The remaining members of Snot found a new path forward. They collaborated with Virgin Records and Immortal Records to release ‘Strait Up.’ This tribute album featured contributions from various metal artists. The album was released on November 7, 2000. It included a remixed version of Snot’s final recording, ‘Absent,’ along with tracks featuring guest vocalists.

On September 29, 2024, Dolling hinted at Snot’s return after the band had been mostly inactive for ten years. In November, the band officially announced their comeback, with Mayo rejoining and a new, unknown singer. They confirmed that the singer was not Vext or Bensley. Later, they introduced Andy Knapp as the new vocalist, and he performed his first show with Snot on January 17, 2025.
