Three months after Jane’s Addiction’s reunion tour ended suddenly because of an onstage fight, the band seems to be back in the studio without Perry Farrell.

Eric Avery posted a video of a recent recording session adding bass to Stephen Perkins’ drumming. He wrote: “Writing some more new lines to some of Stephens drumming. Look forward to getting some Mr [Dave] Navarro on them. 2025!” Perkins also shared the video on his Instagram.

This isn’t the first time the trio has made music without Perry Farrell. After Jane’s Addiction’s first breakup in 1991, Navarro and Avery worked on a project called Deconstruction. However, Perkins wasn’t involved due to the record label’s concerns about confusion with Farrell’s other band, Porno for Pyros.

Deconstruction released one self-titled album in 1994 before Navarro joined Red Hot Chili Peppers. Recently, Navarro has been posting about the Deconstruction album, which was re-released on streaming services.

The incident happened towards the end of a September show during ‘Ocean Size.’ Farrell appeared drunk or high, mumbling lyrics. He bumped into Navarro, swore at him, and got in his face. Navarro seemed confused and asked what was going on. Navarro stopped playing and put his hand on Farrell’s chest. Farrell appeared to throw a punch at Navarro before being held back by a roadie and bassist Eric Avery. Avery and the crew managed to get Farrell offstage.

Later, the band’s tech, Dan Cleary, confirmed that Farrell punched Navarro backstage.

Now, it’s unclear if Navarro, Perkins, and Avery are working on Deconstruction 2.0 or a completely new project. When Jane’s Addiction split in September, they had been working on new music, including a new single, ‘True Love,’ that was released at a bad time.
