Slipknot has officially parted ways with longtime DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson after nearly three decades with the band. Wilson was notified late Friday afternoon on July 31, 2026, that he had been permanently kicked out of the group. The exact reasons behind the decision remain unclear, with neither the band nor Wilson having issued an official statement explaining the circumstances of his departure.

TMZ reported: “Sid Wilson is officially out as Slipknot’s DJ and keyboardist, TMZ has learned. A source close to the band and with direct knowledge tells TMZ Sid was notified late Friday afternoon that he’s been permanently kicked out of the band. It’s currently unclear what led to him getting the boot.”

The 49-year-old musician, known to fans as #0, has been an integral part of Slipknot’s sound since joining in 1999. His turntable work and keyboard contributions helped define the industrial-meets-nu-metal aesthetic that became synonymous with the Iowa-based metal legends’ early records. This sonic signature continued throughout their career and shaped their evolution as a band.

Kelly Osbourne, who was previously engaged to Wilson and shares a son named Sidney with him, posted a cryptic message on Instagram following the news of his firing. The quote she shared read: “No one will smear your name more viciously than the person terrified you’ll expose the truth about them.” The timing of her post came shortly after the announcement of Wilson’s permanent removal, sparking speculation among fans about the nature of their relationship.

The breakup between Osbourne and Wilson occurred just months before his departure from Slipknot. While some coverage has noted the proximity of these two significant life events, no verified connection has been established between the couple’s split and his removal from the band. The band has not announced a replacement for Wilson’s position, leaving questions about how Slipknot will move forward without one of its founding creative forces.

Wilson’s nearly three-decade tenure with Slipknot represented one of the longest continuous memberships in the band’s history. His contributions extended beyond his role as DJ and keyboardist, as he became a recognizable figure in the metal community. He participated in the band’s evolution through multiple album cycles and world tours. The lack of an official explanation from either Slipknot or Wilson himself has left the metal community in a state of uncertainty, with fans and fellow musicians awaiting further clarification on the circumstances surrounding this unexpected split.
