Former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes has expressed gratitude toward his former bandmate Blackie Lawless for sharing his GoFundMe campaign on the band’s social media accounts. This moment marks a significant show of unity despite their well-documented disagreements over the years.

When asked about W.A.S.P.’s support for his fundraising effort, Holmes responded with appreciation while acknowledging the complicated history between himself and Lawless. “I appreciate it very much,” Holmes said. “You know, I put my on to the fans. Whether Mr. Lawless and I don’t get along and we have our different views, I’m an OG—I’m an original gangster of the band. The people that like the first four albums or five, whatever I played on, if they still like me as a human being, they’ll know what I mean. I want to reach out to as many people as I can. I appreciate it.”

Blackie Lawless demonstrated his support through a heartfelt social media post addressing the W.A.S.P. community. “The entire W.A.S.P. family are devastated with the news that our Brother and originator, Chris Holmes is now in a serious fight,” Lawless wrote. “We ask that all of you, who have been moved and touched by the Band stand with us all, to support, as well as to honor him with whatever you can do, be it financial, or words of peace and encouragement. Let him know what he’s meant to you. W.A.S.P. Nation Support You All!!”

The 68-year-old musician’s health battle represents his second major cancer diagnosis in recent years. Holmes previously overcame throat and neck cancer in 2022. His current diagnosis has prompted the need for immediate medical intervention and financial support from fans and the music community.

Holmes is currently undergoing radiotherapy treatment in France, where he has resided with his wife and manager Catherine Savean Holmes since 2014. The couple launched the GoFundMe campaign to help cover substantial medical expenses associated with his treatment. These expenses include hormone therapy, diagnostic scans, biopsies, blood tests, and travel costs to his treatment facility. The campaign reflects the significant financial burden that cancer treatment places on patients, even those with decades-long careers in the music industry.

Holmes had to cancel all scheduled performances in April 2026 due to health issues requiring immediate treatment. At that time, his wife indicated the situation was serious but did not disclose the specific nature of his condition. The subsequent revelation of his prostate cancer diagnosis has since mobilized support from across the rock and metal community. Fans and fellow musicians are rallying behind the legendary guitarist during this challenging period.
