Type O Negative guitarist Kenny Hickey has revealed details about the band’s upcoming live album, which is set to arrive in early 2027, in comments shared via Loaded Radio.
Hickey explained that he is finishing the editing and compilation work for the project. The guitarist said the album will be sent to Mike Marciano, who mixed Type O Negative’s records in the past.
“I’m almost done editing everything, getting everything compiled together and simplified,” Hickey said. “And right now we’re going to give it to… Well, it looks like we’re going to give it to Mike Marciano, who was the original mixer for Type O Negative all those years.”
Hickey noted that Marciano has built a studio in his home in Pennsylvania. The guitarist added that they already tested the process with one track.
“So, he’s got a studio he built in his house in Pennsylvania. We sent him ‘Love You To Death’. He mixed it. It sounded great. So, we’re gonna be moving forward with that. But I’m gonna give him all the stuff all ready to mix, you know what I mean? I can’t give him a mess. So that’s just about done anyhow.”
Hickey then addressed the timeline for release. He said the band is targeting the first quarter of 2027 but explained that manufacturing and preparation take considerable time.
“And so hopefully we’re looking at first quarter next year [for it to be released]. Because you can’t just release it when it’s done, obviously. You need three months [to set it up properly]… You gotta put in for the vinyl. We’re making the vinyl. That stuff, it takes months.”
Hickey spoke about the live album as part of the band’s ongoing work on the recording project.
Marciano worked with Type O Negative early in his career, along with other well-known rock and heavy metal groups including Carnivore, Agnostic Front, and Life of Agony. He has won two Grammy Awards.
