It seems Ghost is gearing up for a new cinematic venture. In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Forge unveiled details about a forthcoming Ghost film project.
The news came after two performances by the band at the Forum in Inglewood, California. These concerts were not just a showcase for the band’s music but also a filming ground for their upcoming movie. Here is what Forge told Metal Hammer about the project:
“When I first started putting it together, I was like, ‘Oh my god, I’m going to faint because there’s so much to think about. Then it was, like, ‘No, no, just don’t think about it at all.'”
He continued, commenting on the concerts’ influence on him and the notable crowd interaction:
“I have never seen a crowd interact the way that they did since I was in a club band. They were the best shows I’ve ever done with Ghost because I didn’t have to see those f*cking mobile phones.”
Forge then gave slight details, updating fans on what to expect from the movie:
“We were essentially shooting a film and used two nights of crowds as extras… It’s going to be a film with a concert element. So much of what you experienced [at the two LA shows] will be part of this project.”
The nature of the film remains shrouded in mystery. Forge drew a parallel between the Ghost film and Metallica’s ‘Through The Never‘ by emphasizing the blending of concert elements with other aspects. However, he chose to keep the specifics under wraps, only hinting at the movie’s format by saying:
“In the sense that it’s a concert with something else combined.”
Ghost’s single ‘Mary On A Cross’ from the EP ‘Seven Inches of Satanic Panic’ attained a platinum certification on September 7, 2023. Moreover, after marking their presence with performances in South America, the band wrapped up the ‘Imperatour‘ with three final shows in Australia this October.
They also launched their third EP, ‘Phantomime,’ on May 19, 2023, via Loma Vista Recordings. This EP consists of five covers, with the highlight being the band’s rendition of Genesis’ hit ‘Jesus He Knows Me.‘
