During a previous radio appearance, Adam Lambert talked about why the LGBTQ community bothers some people.

“Well yeah, I mean, considering the fact that there’s this, like, anti-queer sentiment going on and rising, I think it’s really important for us to remind ourselves that we are a community and that we do have each other and that we’re stronger together than separately,” the singer said when asked to remind why Pride is important.

He continued, “When you realize what it is that’s freaking people out on the other side, why they’re being so hateful, it means that we’re doing something right. It means that we’re shining brightly. It means that we’re becoming exactly who we are.”

“We’re confident, we’re strong, we’re achieving lots of different things. We’re everywhere. We’re in all industries,” Lambert added. “We are making progress. And that’s why the ignorant bigots are freaking out! Because they don’t know what to do with it.”

Last year, Lambert also criticized people who oppose trans rights for their ‘ignorant’ and ‘foolish’ views. At Pride in London, he performed his Pride anthem and talked to Attitude about the many anti-LGBTQ bills introduced in the U.S.

“Obviously, the more brightly we’re shining and the more progress we make, you’re going to have an equal reaction on the opposite side,” said Adam. “So you’re, seeing a lot of bigotry and ignorance on display from the right-wingers.”

He also noted, “One of the ways that we can combat that is just by leading by example and continuing to be loving and joyful and authentic, and not really making any apologies for who we are.”

“I think sometimes people just need to learn because they haven’t learned yet,” the musician explained. “So many people that are anti-trans, for example, don’t have anybody in their lives that’s trans that they’ve spoken to.”

“How can you be anti-trans if you don’t know anything about it? If you have no first-hand experience with it? It’s a pretty ignorant way to live your life. It just seems foolish to me,” Lambert asked why some people are against trans rights.

A little over a year after his last album, ‘High Drama,’ Lambert released his new EP called ‘Afters’ on July 19. It’s a six-track project from the singer.
