In a recent interview with Detroit’s WRIF radio station, Saliva’s current vocalist Bobby Amaru and bassist Brad Stewart shared their thoughts on original Saliva singer, Josey Scott, touring under the ‘Josey Scott’s Saliva’ banner.

Scott is performing many of Saliva’s classic hits without any of the other original members of the band. Stewart noted that the band has been performing with Amaru as the lead vocalist for nearly 12 years, ever since Scott’s departure:

“It’s an interesting thing because we’ve been doing this version of the band since Josey originally left 11, 12 years ago. So we’ve kind of kept the fires burning and put out new records and new music and stuff. So it’s an interesting situation that we’re in now, to be quite honest, so we’re just trying to figure out how to make it work for both parts of it — both versions of it, I should say.”

Amaru expressed positivity towards Scott’s recent endeavors, saying:

“I think it’s good that Josey’s trying to connect with fans and tour and play music. I think it’s an awesome thing. He should have been doing it long ago.”

Scott parted ways with Saliva at the end of 2011 after 15 years. His departure led to Amaru taking over the vocal duties. Under Amaru’s leadership, the band released the albums ‘In It To Win It,’ ‘Rise Up,’ ‘Love, Lies & Therapy,’ ’10 Lives,’ and the recent ‘Revelation.‘

Saliva’s founding guitarist, Wayne Swinny, passed away in March this year. The band’s latest release, ‘Revelation,’ features creative input from the late Swinny.

Scott’s departure was not the end of his association with Saliva. The two parties reunited for a special performance at last year’s Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Alton, Virginia.
