Former Mötley Crüe and Dead Daisies singer John Corabi has set aside recent tensions to express support for current Dead Daisies frontman Glenn Hughes. Hughes announced his retirement from touring and live performances. Corabi shared a heartfelt message on social media, stating “Love you brother, Glenn. Hope you have a great recovery.” This demonstrates solidarity despite being fired from the band nearly a month ago.

The announcement posted on Glenn Hughes’ account read: “Glenn Hughes Announcement: Live Shows Cancelled. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Glenn Hughes announces his retirement from touring and live performances. Upon his Doctor’s advice, Glenn will have to undergo heart surgery and has made the difficult decision to step back from live performances for the foreseeable future.”

The announcement came shortly after what would become his final live performance with The Dead Daisies on May 30, 2026, at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois.

The timing of Hughes’s retirement marks a significant moment in rock music history. The veteran performer has maintained an almost continuous touring schedule since 1992. Hughes had previously planned 2026 as a deliberate break year. He intended to take time away from the road after decades of relentless touring. However, the medical diagnosis accelerated what was meant to be a temporary hiatus into a permanent retirement from live work.

This is not Hughes’s first battle with serious heart complications. The musician underwent open-heart surgery in 2013 to repair an enlarged aorta. The current diagnosis requiring another open-heart surgery underscores the severity of his condition. His health must take priority over his legendary career in rock music. At 74 years old, Hughes has made the difficult decision to cease performing.

Hughes’s decision to retire from touring represents the end of an era for The Dead Daisies. The international supergroup reunited him with the band for what turned out to be a final performance. The announcement also resulted in the cancellation of a second scheduled show in October 2026. This confirms the permanence of his withdrawal from live performances. Despite the challenges surrounding his departure from the band and the subsequent hiring of Corabi as his replacement, mutual respect between the two singers remains evident. Corabi’s compassionate response to Hughes’s health crisis demonstrates this respect.
