Sam Matlock was born on March 16, 1993, to Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock and a music publicist. Growing up in a musical environment, he got interested in music from an early age. Instead of following directly in his father’s punk footsteps, he created his own sound and blended elements of rock, electronic, and metal in his career.
Sam Matlock’s Career

Matlock’s first major band was Dead!, which he formed in 2012. In 2018, the band released their debut album, ‘The Golden Age of Not Even Trying,’ which entered the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart.
After Dead! disbanded, Matlock co-founded Wargasm in 2019 with former concert photographer Milkie Way. The band blends elements of electronic music and nu-metal. In 2023, their debut album ‘Venom’ made it onto the UK Albums Chart. They also collaborated with Slipknot’s Corey Taylor on the 2024 track ‘70% Dead.’
Matlock has also been involved in songwriting and collaborations. He co-wrote Bambie Thug’s ‘Doomsday Blue’ and has performed live with Jamie Lenman. In 2021, he made headlines when security guards at London’s Scala venue assaulted him during a Wargasm show. The guards were later dismissed.
Sam Matlock’s Recent Projects

Matlock remained active in 2024, contributing to various artists. He featured on Crashface’s ‘Maniac’ and co-wrote songs like Harpy’s ‘Inside Out’ and Bex’s ‘Taste Better.’ Wargasm also released the singles ‘Circle Pit’ and ‘Bad Seed,’ along with a joint music video.
Wargasm has a reputation for high-energy live performances. Their shows often feature intense crowd interaction and chaotic mosh pits, and tracks like ‘Circle Pit’ and ‘Fukstar’ are among the fan favorites.
The band is now scheduled to perform at Scenic Stage, Dreamland in Margate, UK.
