Paula Yates had the essence of rock ‘n’ roll romance in its most raw form. The Evening Standard documented her personality and unapologetic approach to life. Her declaration sets the tone for her legacy: “I can’t imagine me ever going out with anyone who couldn’t fill a stadium.”

Who Was Paula Yates?

Yates was a TV personality with a provocative interviewing style that defined shows like The Tube and The Big Breakfast. She challenged Kylie Minogue about Prince and convinced Sting to disrobe on air.

Televisual reports Yates’s revolutionary impact on celebrity interviews. She transformed traditional celebrity journalism into must-watch entertainment. Her approach set new standards for media personality engagement.

Her media presence then evolved into a business empire. She launched her own lingerie line, created a perfume collection, and authored books. Her work includes the cheekily titled ‘Rockstars in their Underpants.’

Her Relationship With Bob Geldof

Yates entered rock royalty at age 18 when she met Bob Geldof. Their relationship began in London’s punk scene. The couple’s decade-long courtship led to their 1986 Las Vegas wedding. They had three daughters: Fifi Trixibelle, Peaches Honeyblossom, and Pixie. The perfect rock ‘n’ roll marriage eventually showed cracks. Gerry Agar Fennell, Yates’s former PR, revealed the truth. “She was desperately, desperately unhappy. After Live Aid, Bob wasn’t really doing anything. No money was coming in. He was a has-been.”

Yates Then Fell For Michael Hutchence

The most intense chapter of Yates’s life began with INXS frontman Michael Hutchence. Their connection sparked during a 1985 interview for The Tube. Yates declared to INXS’s road manager, “I’m going to have that boy.” This statement set multiple lives on a new course. Their relationship produced daughter Tiger Lily. The union became marked by substance abuse and intense media scrutiny.

Hutchence’s death in 1997 triggered Yates’s spiral into depression and substance abuse. Her friend Belinda Brewin recalled the late-night calls. Yates would seek reassurance: “He did love me didn’t he?” The once-vibrant media personality retreated into isolation. She developed agoraphobia and addiction. Her story ended with her untimely death in 2000.

What Happened to Paula Yates’ Children?

The story continues through the next generation. Tiger Lily, now 28, lives a private life with her partner Ben Archer. Recent reports confirm that they are expecting a child. Fifi works in modeling and music, and Pixie works on music and fashion. Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof, on the other hand, died at 25.
