Sammy Hagar recently hinted at a potential collaboration with Metallica on Instagram.

“Music can make a difference,” the Red Rocker wrote in his post, sharing photos from his recent performance at Metallica’s fourth Helping Hands Concert and Auction.

In the comments, a fan suggested, “It would be amazing for you to record something together; a beautiful gift for us fans of these beasts; real monsters of Rock.” Hagar responded, “Kirk and I are talking about us.”

Metallica’s fourth Helping Hands Concert and Auction took place on December 13 in Los Angeles, featuring performances by Sammy Hagar, SistaStrings, and Metallica.

The event raised funds for Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation, which supports various charities. The show was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, with appearances by Slash and Tom Morello.

Hagar performed with his band, including Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, and Kenny Aronoff. They played songs from Van Halen, Chickenfoot, Montrose, and Hagar’s solo career.

Metallica performed two sets: one acoustic and one electric. They were joined by SistaStrings, Avi Vincour, and Jeff Ament from Pearl Jam. The acoustic set included ‘Low Man’s Lyric,’ played live for the first time since 1998, and ‘The Unforgiven II,’ which had not been performed since 2015.

The set also featured songs like ‘Away From Home’ by Bachman–Turner Overdrive, ‘Helpless’ by Diamond Head, and ‘Hit The Lights’ with Ament. Other tracks performed included ‘If Darkness Had a Son,’ ‘Nothing Else Matters,’ ‘Orion,’ ‘The Shortest Straw,’ ‘Until it Sleeps,’ ‘Screaming Suicide,’ ‘Fuel,’ and ‘Master of Puppets.’

The All Within My Hands Foundation, established in 2017, focuses on supporting communities through education, fighting hunger, and providing disaster relief. The foundation has raised over $15 million, including $8.2 million for job training initiatives like the Metallica Scholars Program, $3.6 million to combat hunger, and $3.5 million for disaster relief efforts.

Metallica’s M72 World Tour will continue in 2025, beginning in North America on April 19 in Syracuse, New York. Sammy Hagar also has four solo shows and a Las Vegas residency with his band, The Best of All Worlds, scheduled for early 2025.
