Skid Row is making progress in selecting a new vocalist. In a recent interview with Motorcycle Mayhem Radio, guitarist Dave Sabo shared an update on their search.
“First of all, we’re taking our time; we’re not rushing into anything. There’s been a lot of great people that we’ve gotten YouTube videos,” Sabo stated.
He added that they are getting closer to a final decision. “Once again you have to find what works for what we’re doing, and we’re close. There’s a few people out there that we’re really interested, we just got to make sure that it’s the right thing. We want people to enjoy themselves like we want to be able to show respect for the history of the band and we also want to be able for people to enjoy going to a show and feeling like they got more than their money’s worth. Then at some point be able to make a really good record.”
Qualities Skid Row Seeks in Their Next Vocalist

The band has been searching for a singer since Erik Grönwall departed nearly a year ago due to health concerns. During that time, they have performed with Lzzy Hale as a temporary vocalist.
Drummer Rob Hammersmith previously explained what qualities they are looking for in a singer. “If I were to give you four or five adjectives to say, ‘This is what I’m looking for’… We want somebody who has a presence and a personality and has something about themselves. Anybody who knows the band’s history kind of knows we’re an energetic band. We take pride in that. We’re an energetic band. We have a particular way of doing things.”
He continued, “That’s not to say that we’re not open to somebody bringing their own stamp to it, but that’s a very difficult question for me to answer. So I would say that you hit the nail on the head by saying we’ll know it when we see it. But it is a pre-existing thing. That’s a difficult balance.”
Meanwhile, former singer Sebastian Bach previously showed interest in a reunion, but recently confirmed that he is no longer considering rejoining the band.
