Like many rock music lovers, Slash is also not a fan of Christmas music.
The Guns N’ Roses guitarist shared his thoughts on Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ via a post on Instagram. He reposted an image from another account featuring a famous scene from ‘The Shining’ with Shelley Duvall, but with Mariah Carey inserted into the picture. The caption read, “Make it stop.”
Fans seemed to agree with Slash’s sentiment. One user commented, “No one can’t stand that song anymore, Slash.” Another added, “Hahahaha making Mariah Carey have a hard time…” A third user joked, “He definitely giggled to himself posting this.”
While it’s not common for rock stars to write their own Christmas songs, some have, and others have done covers. Last Christmas, David Lee Roth released a holiday song called ‘Talking Christmas Blues.’ Other rock icons like Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, and Twisted Sister have also released their own Christmas songs and even albums.
However, it’s now clear that unless Axl Rose and the rest of Guns N’ Roses agree, Slash is not on board with the band releasing a cover of a Christmas song—or even better, creating their own original holiday song.
