Sevendust Was Earlier Named Crawlspace

Before having the name Sevendust, the band had to change their name twice. Starting their career as Rumblefish, they had to change the name before even going on a tour because they had discovered another band with the same name. The band decided to go with Crawlspace and stuck to it until another band, also named Crawlspace, sent them a notice that they wanted $2,500 in exchange for the naming rights. Ultimately, the band changed their name to what we know today as Sevendust.

Witherspoon’s Father Was His Inspiration for Music

During his childhood, Witherspoon watched his father being in a band and was exposed to music around the house. This eventually led to him pursuing a music career, and in his words, he has been listening to all kinds of music, from rock to country, ever since.

Sevendust Went Bankrupt

In 2005, the band faced financial troubles because of a negative contract with their record label, WineDark, which didn’t provide help for distributing their music or supporting their tours. This situation led the band to have to pay their crew members and other staff members themselves. Shortly after that, their accountant didn’t manage to pay their taxes.

However, in 2007, when they signed with a new record label, things started to look up. Their album ‘Alpha’ came out and reached the 14th position on the music charts, being their best performance up to that time.

Clint Lowery Was Arrested Once

You read the title right. The band had a night out during their tour with Korn after the Slovakia show. Lowery ended up getting too drunk and trashing his hotel room. Eventually, he was arrested but fortunately released the following afternoon after apologizing and paying for the damages.

Witherspoon Enjoys Listening to Adam Lambert

He might be in a nu-metal band, but that does not limit him to listening to only rock and metal music. In a 2010 interview, the rocker said that he had been listening to Adam Lambert, who was back then not the Queen singer, and even referred to it as embarrassing.

Witherspoon Lost His Brother

The rocker’s younger brother, Reginald, was shot to death on November 9, 2002, at the age of 21. Witherspoon had heard the news minutes before going on stage, but he could not leave and was forced to play live. The show was dedicated to his brother, and the following shows until November 15 were postponed. After the incident, the band went on a hiatus.
