“People pay to watch a show. Although if it’s a birthday party why are you paying to go to a birthday party? Anyway let’s assume that’s a paying audience, is it ever acceptable to say ‘F*ck you’ to your audience?” Hawkins questioned.

“I mean Rage Against the Machine say it a lot but I don’t know if that’s directed at the audience. Actually that’s a bad example. Oh, that guy, CeeLo Green, says it sometimes when he’s not doing the ‘Forget You’ version which is forgettable of that really cool song called ‘F*ck You,'” he continued.

“It’s okay to say it but I think you have to say it with the audience. I think you say if you say, ‘Thanks for your money but f*ck you,’ I don’t think that works actually,” he added.

The incident has sparked widespread discussions in the music industry. Both fans and industry professionals have shared varying perspectives about artist-audience relationships and performance expectations.
