Kelly Osbourne recently revealed that she was introduced to drugs by one of her father Ozzy Osbourne’s rock star friends, sharing the story in the new documentary If These Walls Could Rock.

The daughter of the Black Sabbath legend explained that the incident occurred at the Sunset Marquis hotel, where she tried cocaine for the first time.

“We’d be kicked out of everywhere, but not the Sunset Marquis,” Kelly Osbourne said. “My dad could misbehave politely here. I did my first line of cocaine in this hotel. Which was given to me by one of my dad’s friends in a very, very, very big band.”

She also noted that she had to keep the encounter a secret from her family. “And I could never tell my parents because they would f*cking kill him,” she added.

The story provides further context for Kelly Osbourne’s long-publicized struggles with substance abuse and the rock-and-roll environment in which she grew up.

Kelly’s substance abuse began at age 13 after she received Vicodin following tonsil surgery. Her drug use later escalated to other substances.

Kelly has also spoken about her repeated attempts to achieve sobriety. She has discussed multiple rehabilitation stays and a relapse in 2021 after several years without using drugs.

She has linked her early exposure to alcohol to her family life. “I came from an alcoholic family,” Kelly said, adding that alcohol was a constant presence during her childhood.

The Sunset Marquis also has a long-standing connection to the music industry. The West Hollywood hotel has been known as a gathering place for rock stars, making it a fitting setting for Kelly’s recollection.

Ozzy Osbourne faced his own widely documented struggles with substance abuse. His problems with alcohol and drugs began in the 1970s and contributed to his departure from Black Sabbath in 1979.

Together, the details show how Kelly’s experience was connected to a broader history of addiction surrounding her family and the rock scene. They also help explain why she described the encounter at the Sunset Marquis as something she felt unable to reveal to her parents.
