Poison frontman Bret Michaels recently shared an update regarding his health and plans for a fall 2026 stage return, following a health emergency that led to emergency surgery and forced him to postpone all live performances. The update was shared in a post on Instagram.

In his message, Michaels expressed his determination to return to performing and outlined his goals for upcoming solo shows.

“On this good vibes Terrific Tuesday, it is time to practice what I preach: to stand strong, rock on and remain unbroken,” Michaels said. “To take all of my crazy energy and keep it positive, I have to set goals, and my goal is to know that I can get back on that stage, no matter what I’m going through and rock the world and pick things I love to do and do them and not sweat the technique.”

He went on to explain that he was working with promoters to schedule intimate comeback shows later this year to test his physical recovery under medical supervision.

“Again, stay tuned before the end of the year, as a few promoters and I are working on announcing a couple of Road to Recovery comeback shows in up-close and personal venues that I love to perform at as a real-world stress test to see where I’m at physically, all of it done under incredible medical guidance — sometime in October, November, December,” Michaels continued. “And, as you know, I’ll give every ounce of energy on that stage because without passion, purpose and a project, as well as good family, friends and fans surrounding you… What’s the point? Let’s rock!”

Michaels’ plans later faced another setback after his health emergency required additional recovery time. The singer underwent emergency surgery for kidney stones in July.

Reports stated that Michaels was hospitalized around July 19, with the surgery publicly disclosed several days later. The procedure was described as emergency kidney stone surgery, although further details about the operation were not released.

Michaels eventually returned to the stage for a comeback performance at The Bowl at Sugar Hill in Georgia. However, doctors and paramedics determined immediately after the show that he needed additional rest and recovery.

As a result, the remaining dates on Michaels’ 2026 schedule were canceled, and his team said he would be taking the next several months off. The singer was pulled from the road while he continued to recover.

The canceled shows appear to supersede the fall comeback plans Michaels outlined in his earlier message. Further information about his recovery and future performances is expected to be announced when his medical team determines that he is ready to return.
