Guitarist Sabian Lynch almost intervened when Alpha Wolf’s vocalist, Lochie Keogh, was forcibly removed from the stage by security during a concert.
A video has surfaced showing a security guard pulling Keogh off stage at a recent event. The promoter for the venue later addressed the situation in a statement.
The concert took place on October 30 at The Warfield in San Francisco, where Alpha Wolf opened for headliners Dayseeker, alongside Catch Your Breath and Kingdom of Giant.
According to Riff Magazine, during Alpha Wolf’s set, Keogh criticized the venue staff for their poor treatment of all the bands. His anger appeared to stem from incidents involving crowd surfers who were injured during their performance.
The report indicated that Keogh took a knit hat from a security guard and threw it onto the stage. The guard then grabbed Keogh by the ankle and pulled him off the stage, which resulted in damage to some stage lighting.
Seeing this unfold, Lynch threw his guitar at the guard, leading to a confrontation between the band and the security staff. The music abruptly stopped, and the venue’s lights were turned on.
Danny Bell, a spokesperson for AEG Presents, the company managing The Warfield, released a statement regarding the incident. He confirmed that the security guard involved has been suspended while an investigation is underway.
“We are aware of this incident and are investigating the events that led up to the unfortunate interaction,” Bell stated. “For now, the contracted security company has placed the individual on investigative leave. The safety and well-being of the audience, artists, and staff are always a top priority.”
A fan named Andrew Trin shared a video on social media showing Alpha Wolf in a dispute with the security personnel. Trin, who had crowd-surfed during a song, was dropped on his head by the guards.
Typically, security is responsible for helping crowd surfers safely over the barricade, but Trin reported that this did not happen for him, resulting in a head injury and a sprained ankle. When Lochie confronted security, the guard pulled him off the stage, leading to a brawl and ending their performance.
Another concertgoer remarked that security couldn’t catch Trin due to other crowd surfers and criticized the situation as unprofessional, particularly because the singer was arguing with a security guard during the performance.
