Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott recently reacted to rumors regarding a potential return of former vocalist Angela Gossow, addressing the speculation in an interview with EMP Backstage Club Area. Amott also discussed the band’s quick transition to their new singer, Lauren Hart, who replaced Alissa White-Gluz earlier this year.
Amott explained how rapidly the band integrated Lauren Hart into the lineup after Alissa White-Gluz’s departure.
“Everything happened really quickly,” Amott said. “It was really fast. We had festivals confirmed. We thought maybe we’d get a singer just for the summer and see how things go. But then we started talking to Lauren. We knew of her before.”
He went on to describe the process of working with Hart and how they quickly recorded new music together.
“And, basically, she sent some recordings of her singing Arch Enemy stuff, and it sounded amazing immediately, and we were, like, ‘Yeah, okay,’” Amott continued. “And then we actually went into the studio and cut a new song, which is ‘To the Last Breath’, which has been out for a few months. So everything was super fast, which kind of made us … It was cool. It made us feel happy, but also a little bit nervous: ‘What are we doing? We’re moving too fast into a new relationship.’ But it worked out so far.”
Amott then addressed the rumors that Angela Gossow might return to the band to take over for Hart.
“I understand that’s fan mentality,” Amott added. “These rumors start because they already knew her from the past. But no, it wasn’t really an option. No.”
The rumors emerged during a major transition for Arch Enemy, following the band’s split with Alissa White-Gluz and the arrival of Lauren Hart.
Arch Enemy announced on November 23, 2025, that it had parted ways with White-Gluz. The band said it was thankful for the time and music it had shared with her before adding, “Wherever there is an ending, there is also a beginning. See you in 2026.”
White-Gluz also confirmed the split in a separate statement, saying that she had parted ways with Arch Enemy after 12 years. Her departure ended a significant era for the band and led to widespread speculation about who would take over as its vocalist.
Arch Enemy introduced Lauren Hart as its new singer on February 19, 2026. The announcement arrived alongside the release of “To the Last Breath,” which marked Hart’s first recording with the band.
Hart was previously associated with Once Human before joining Arch Enemy. Her addition gave the band a new vocalist while allowing the group to continue its planned activities and live performances following White-Gluz’s departure.
Angela Gossow remains an important figure in Arch Enemy’s history after fronting the band for years. She has also continued to manage the group for more than a decade. When speculation about her possible return intensified, Gossow addressed the rumors on social media, writing, “It’s not ME!”
This transition marks a new chapter for Arch Enemy as the band continues touring with Lauren Hart.
