“Thank you for coming to Knotfest Iowa,” festival officials announced via Instagram. “We are now in a permanent evacuation due to severe weather. Please exit the venue safely and head home.”

Earlier in the day, officials had posted about changes to the set times: “Due to the threat of incoming severe weather, set times have been adjusted to accommodate all acts for the best possible experience. Dying Wish – 6 pm, Till Lindemann – 6:30 pm, Gwar – 7 pm, Slipknot – 8 pm.”

Despite the adjustments, Slipknot managed to perform for less than an hour, as fans noted in the comments. However, many still praised their shortened performance.

Besides Slipknot, the festival lineup featured artists like Till Lindemann from Rammstein, Knocked Loose, Hatebreed, Poison the Well, GWAR, and Vended—a band featuring the sons of Slipknot members. Vended previously performed in Indianola in 2021 and has also played at Wooly’s in East Village multiple times since.

Since their last Knotfest performance, Slipknot has gone through a lineup change. Longtime drummer Jay Weinberg departed the band in November, and was replaced by Eloy Casagrande, who left the metal band Sepultura earlier this year.

Corey Taylor explained the decision to bring Casagrande into the band: “We just decided, ‘You know what? Let’s just tell people.’ Eloy was the only one brave enough to get in the room with us. We looked at other drummers, but they just wanted to send in videos, like a TikTok audition. Eloy rearranged his schedule to jam with us. His hunger to play impressed us immediately.”

Slipknot is set to perform at the Louder Than Life festival on September 26, followed by a show at Aftershock Festival on October 11.
