Rock stars and their relationships with groupies are widely known and popular, but most of them don’t last long.

We can call these relationships ‘toxic and crazy adventures’ that take place during long-lasting tours. Audrey Hamilton’s life as a groupie also started in the ’70s when she met a Led Zeppelin roadie. This roadie later invited her to a hotel and introduced her to Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant.

Plant Was Married When He Fell In Love With Hamilton

Audrey Hamilton and Robert Plant fell in love as soon as they met. Plant wanted her to join him during the Zeppelin tour in 1977. Plant was married to Maureen Wilson, so Hamilton became his ‘tour wife.’ Rumor has it that Led Zeppelin’s ‘Hot Dog’ was written for Hamilton.

Some of the song’s lyrics read:

“She said we couldn’t do no wrong / No other love could be so strong

She locked up my heart in her bottom drawer / Now she took my heart she took my keys

From in my old blue dungarees / And I’ll never go to Texas anymore”

Plant Ended Their Relationship When His Son Died

Plant and Hamilton decided to go separate ways when Plant’s five-year-old son Karac passed away due to a stomach virus. Audrey then continued her life as a groupie and had relationships with other famous rock stars. She traveled with bands and musicians such as Rod Stewart, Bad Company, Electric Light Orchestra, and KISS as their groupie.

One of her lovers was KISS lead guitarist Ace Frehley, and they had a daughter named Lindsey, who was born on September 19, 1980. Frehley and Hamilton’s relationship didn’t last long, and she decided not to be a groupie anymore because she wanted to spend more time with her daughter.

You can listen to the song below.
