In a recent Instagram video, Sammy Hagar opened up about having a difficult time after his argument with Alex Van Halen.
“Hello everyone, I know you think my life is always perfect,” the singer began. “I’ve had a tough couple of crazy days for a lot of different reasons but I just wanna say that sometimes the simplest things in life like this, a little glass of wine is all it takes to be happy. Hope you’re happy.”
Hagar acknowledged his struggles but did not specify the exact reasons. It is likely that he was alluding to his recent feud with Alex. Fans expressed their concern in the comments and offered messages of support.
“Sending you Aloha a Mana (love and energy) brother. Thank you for this,” one fan commented. “People forget that even one of the most famous RocknRollers, and Good Humans have off days! Salute brother.”
Another added, “Have a great day my Brother, we all have those days and keep your head up!” A third person noted, “Awwww cheers brother. You know we all love and support you man. People like you make this world worth living. Peace up brother.”
Recently, Alex voiced his dissatisfaction with how the other band members represented Van Halen during Hagar’s Best of All Worlds Tour. This sparked strong reactions from Van Halen fans, some of whom criticized Alex for not being more involved if he felt that way. Others highlighted Hagar’s significant contributions to the band and his talent as a performer.
Later, in an interview with The Guardian, Alex criticized Sammy, stating that the band lost its spirit when David Lee Roth left. This sentiment led him to end his new book, ‘Brothers,’ in 1985. Although the band had success with Hagar as their new frontman, Hagar later published a negative book regarding his time with Van Halen.
In response to Hagar’s complaints, Alex said, “‘Are you really that jealous of Ed? Are you really that scared of him?’ That’s how people act when they try to diminish somebody.”
Following Alex’s remarks, Hagar shared an old interview with the drummer on Instagram to highlight that Alex was not being truthful about their time together. In the video, Alex praises Hagar for his vocal and guitar skills, noting that Hagar’s guitar playing helped expand the band’s musical style.
