Skid Row is still searching for a permanent lead singer, but things aren’t going as smoothly as they had hoped.

In a recent interview with The Metal Summit, the band’s drummer, Rob Hammersmith, shared an update on the search.

“Unfortunately earlier this year when Erik [Grönwall] left the band we were kind of in a situation where we had to figure out relatively quickly what the rest of the year was going to look like,” he said. “So we were able to do some shows late spring early summer with our good friend Lzzy Hale. So no tour dates since those shows earlier this year.”

Hammersmith explained that while they’ve had some strong candidates for the role, the search is still ongoing. “We are still in an active search for the next lead singer of Skid Row. We’ve had some really good some really strong candidates. At this point, no news, no official announcements. As I said, we are still in the midst of a proper search, if you will, but we’re making progress, we’re getting there.”

“So unfortunately, no announcements. All of that said, we like to keep it out there in the rock and metal world. Any ideas are welcome at this point. So, singers out there, if you think you’re right, you know where to find us for sure,” he added.

Since Grönwall left because of health problems, the band has been taking things slowly. They did a tour with Lzzy Hale as the temporary singer and have said several times that they don’t plan on reuniting with Sebastian Bach. Meanwhile, Erik Grönwall is focusing on his solo career.

“I’m actually writing music to release something on my own, something I’ve been thinking about for a long time. I’ve always been in established bands. I did ‘Idol’ and then, I joined H.E.A.T and they had an established sound,” he said in a previous interview. “And then, I did that for 10 years although we wrote songs together obviously and developed a sound but it was already an established sound. And then, I did New Horizon which was Jona’s thing, and then Skid Row is definitely an established band. So, I feel like I haven’t really done my own thing. So I’m working on it and writing music.”

In other news, Grönwall will join Michael Schenker on his European tour in spring 2025. Schenker is promoting his new album, ‘My Years With UFO,’ and Grönwall will be featured on the track ‘Mother Mary,’ including Slash from Guns N’ Roses.
