Slipknot co-guitarist Mick Thomson’s wife Stacy shared comments on recent viral reports about the band’s DJ Sid Wilson. She slipped in a reference to the Matthew Broderick vehicle Ferris Bueller’s Day Off for good measure. In an Instagram story, Stacy Thomson wrote: “My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.” She followed up with another post stating: “Questions about my reference? Don’t believe everything you read on the internet, kids! (And yes Ferris buellers day off is a great movie).”

The comments came in response to reports claiming that Sid Wilson had been permanently removed from the band. A source close to the band stated that Wilson was notified late Friday afternoon that he had been kicked out. No specific reason was provided for the departure. The report sent shockwaves through the metal community, with fans and media outlets scrambling to verify the claims about one of the band’s most recognizable members.

Jim Root, Slipknot’s co-guitarist, also weighed in on the controversy by posting a cryptic message urging skepticism about the reports. His response echoed the sentiment of dismissing unverified claims circulating online. He stopped short of explicitly confirming or denying the firing allegations. The band’s measured responses suggested internal deliberation about how to address the situation publicly.

The firing report, if accurate, would mark a significant moment in Slipknot’s history. Wilson has been a founding member and integral part of the band’s identity for nearly three decades. He serves as the masked DJ and keyboardist who helped define the group’s sonic landscape. His tenure with Slipknot has spanned the entire evolution of nu-metal, from the band’s self-titled debut through their most recent work, making him one of the longest-serving members of the outfit.

The alleged dismissal came just months after Wilson’s highly publicized split from his fiancée Kelly Osbourne. This personal upheaval in Wilson’s life coincided with what sources claimed was a sudden and permanent removal from the band he helped establish nearly three decades ago. No official statement from Slipknot or Wilson himself has been released to clarify the situation or provide context for the reported separation.

The incident reflects a broader period of transition for Slipknot. The band previously saw departures from original percussionist Chris Fehn, original keyboardist Craig Jones, and longtime drummer Jay Weinberg. These changes have raised questions about the band’s direction and stability as they navigate the complexities of maintaining a legacy act while adapting to new circumstances.

As of now, neither Slipknot nor Wilson has issued an official public statement addressing the report or confirming the details of his status with the band. The lack of clarity from official sources has left fans and media outlets in a state of uncertainty. The competing narratives from Thomson and Root suggest that the full story remains untold.
