System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan has addressed the possibility of a new album in a recent interview with Lilian Tahmasian. The band hasn’t released a full album since 2005’s ‘Hypnotize.’ They continue to perform live shows together despite creative differences.

“I don’t know if I want [a new System album] at this point,” Dolmayan said. “There’s just too much drama involved.”

“I like going out and having a good time with my friends and playing shows, and I don’t want that to disappear,” he continued. “There would have to be very strict guidelines for me to make another record with System again.”

The band’s recording future remains complex. They maintain an active touring schedule despite these challenges.

This latest development adds another chapter to the band’s complex history of potential reunions and creative endeavors.
