Jelly Roll Faces Backlash For Ozzy Osbourne Tribute Performance

Jelly Roll received backlash for his performance honoring Ozzy Osbourne at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony.

The Rock Hall shared a video of Jelly’s performance on Instagram, captioning it, “Jelly Roll sings a soulful rendition of ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’ to honor 2024 Inductee Ozzy Osbourne during the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Disney Plus.”

However, not all music fans appreciated his performance. One user commented, “That was absolutely hideous. I’ll never understand the appeal of Jelly Roll.”

Another added, “Should have had James Hetfield or Corey Taylor, you know, people who were both influenced by Ozzy but also are close to him.” Another commenter noted, “Maynard was the best of the 3. Jack Black would have been a better choice than this guy or Billy.”

Another person agreed, saying, “Oh Jesus that was bad. Stop getting current trendy people to sing these legends songs and get the best suited voice possible. F*cking Ozzy deserves better.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame held the induction ceremony to welcome a new group of artists. The event featured hours of tributes to singers like Cher, Mary J. Blige, and Foreigner. The highlight of the evening was when Osbourne took the stage. Already a Hall of Famer for his work with Black Sabbath, he was inducted again for his solo career.

With stars like Billy Idol and Chad Smith on stage, Roll performed ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’ while Ozzy watched from the side. Before attending the ceremony, Roll shared on X, “Going to honor the incredible Ozzy Osbourne as he is inducted into the hall of fame tonight. These are the moments I never even dreamed of. I remember listening to ‘No More Tears’ in our living room with the whole family. CRAZY I was a kid. Thank you God for another undeserved opportunity.”

In addition to Idol and Smith, Maynard James Keenan, Zakk Wylde, Rob Trujillo, Wolfgang Van Halen, Steve Stevens, and producer Andrew Watt also joined Roll on stage.
