System of a Down made a name for itself with a wild mix of heavy metal and alternative rock. The band—Serj Tankian (vocals), Daron Malakian (guitar/vocals), Shavo Odadjian (bass), and John Dolmayan (drums)—has stuck together over the years, keeping their signature sound intact.

They hit it big with ‘Toxicity’ in 2001, which shot to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 7.9 million copies worldwide. Their follow-up, ‘Mezmerize,’ also topped the charts, selling about 453,000 copies in its first week. Overall, System of a Down has moved over 40 million records globally.

Outside of the band, each member has explored their own projects, building impressive careers and fortunes along the way. Here’s a look at where they stand financially today:

4. John Dolmayan

John Dolmayan has been driving SOAD’s chaotic rhythms since 1997. But drumming isn’t his only gig—he’s a huge comic book fan and even started his own business, Torpedo Comics. Between his music career and business ventures, his net worth is estimated at $16 million.

3. Shavo Odadjian

Known for his energetic stage presence, Shavo Odadjian has always had a hand in multiple projects. He’s collaborated with Wu-Tang Clan, formed the band AcHoZeN, and invested in real estate and the cannabis industry. Thanks to these ventures, he’s sitting on an estimated $20 million.

2. Daron Malakian

Daron Malakian isn’t just SOAD’s guitarist—he’s a key songwriter behind their sound. When the band went on hiatus, he formed Scars on Broadway, keeping his musical output alive. His work as a producer and songwriter has helped him rack up a net worth of $20 million.

1. Serj Tankian

Serj Tankian is more than just the voice of SOAD. He’s released several solo albums, dabbled in different musical styles, and even started his own label, Serjical Strike Records. On top of that, he’s a passionate activist and co-founded the Axis of Justice non-profit. Like Malakian and Odadjian, his net worth is estimated at $20 million.
