Erra has consistently pushed the boundaries of progressive metalcore through multiple lineup changes and evolving sound. According to Rock Sound, their latest release marks another milestone in their discography.

Erra debuted in 2011 with ‘Impulse,’ blending technical skill with melody. Some of their albums topped the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

In 2016, J.T. Cavey joined, adding a mid-range scream, while Jesse Cash’s clean vocals evolved. Their dual-vocal style became a signature. Erra’s mix of heavy riffs and melody has influenced modern metalcore, solidifying them as progressive metalcore leaders.

5. Augment (2013)

Tragic Hero Records released ‘Augment,’ representing a pivotal moment in Erra’s career. The album first entered the Billboard charts. It served as the final chapter with original vocalist Garrison Lee and guitarist Alan Rigdon. Bassist Sean Price joined the lineup, setting the stage for the band’s future evolution.

4. Drift (2016)

‘Drift’ is Erra’s third album, released on April 8, 2016, by Sumerian Records. Nick Sampson produced it. This was their first album with J.T. Cavey, former Texas in July vocalist.

3. Neon (2018)

‘Neon’ is Erra’s fourth album, released on August 10, 2018, by Sumerian Records. Beau Burchell and Taylor Larson produced it. This was their first album with bassist Conor Hesse and their last with Sumerian before joining UNFD in 2020.

2. Erra (2021)

‘Erra’ is the band’s fifth album, released on March 19, 2021, through UNFD. Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland produced it. This was their first album with UNFD and the last with guitarist Sean Price before he left in March 2022.

The album got mostly positive reviews. Distorted Sound gave it 8/10, saying: “Undeniably the most pivotal moment of their metalcore span so far – ERRA have delivered the goods when it mattered most. Laser focused on highlighting their pros, this self-titled record makes its incredible production job pay dividends. It’s modern metalcore as you know it, but just done really, really well.”

1. Cure (2024)

‘Cure’ is Erra’s sixth album, released on April 5, 2024, through UNFD. Daniel Braunstein produced it, and it is the first album with guitarist Clint Tustin.

The album got mostly positive reviews. Jake Richardson of Kerrang! said: “An album that showcases the sonic power of metalcore when the genre is executed with due care and craft. It’s not quite a revolutionary work, but Cure is an undeniably strong addition to the metalcore canon.”

Erra has built a strong reputation in progressive metalcore with six albums, each marking a new chapter in their evolution. From their 2011 debut ‘Impulse’ to their latest release ‘Cure’ in 2024, they have consistently refined their sound while embracing new members and influences.
