Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Anthony Kiedis had a troubled childhood and a turbulent life. His first sexual experience was with his father’s 18-year-old girlfriend when he was just 12 years old.
Kiedis started living with his father Blackie Dammett in Hollywood, and life changed a lot for him. Blackie was an actor and part-time drug dealer. This introduced Kiedis to drugs when he was just a kid. He even tried heroin when he was 14 years old thinking that it was cocaine.
Anthony talked about his childhood in his memoir ‘Scar Tissue.’ The book shows that he chose the wrong path multiple times in the past. It also features an incident that may surprise you: he had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl, and her father filed a missing person’s report.
Is This Story True?
The answer to this question is sadly yes. Red Hot Chili Peppers was trying to make it in the rock scene in the mid-’80s. The band toured around the United States and slowly started gaining a fanbase. Anthony, 23 years old, met a girl after one of their shows. He later found out she was going to a Catholic School.
This could’ve been a warning sign for Anthony, but it wasn’t. The two had sexual intercourse and the next day, she tagged along when they were driving to Baton Rouge. She approached Kiedis after the show and said she’s the 14-year-old daughter of the chief of police, and they are looking for her in Louisiana as she’s gone missing.
This is how Kiedis describes what happened in his memoir:
“The next day we drove to Baton Rouge, and of course, she came with us. After we got offstage, she came up to me and said, ‘I have something to tell you. My father’s the chief of police and the entire state of Louisiana is looking for me because I’ve gone missing. Oh, and besides that, I’m only fourteen.’
I wasn’t incredibly scared, because, in my somewhat deluded mind, I knew that if she told the chief of police she was in love with me, he wasn’t going to have me taken out to a field and shot, but I did want to get her the hell back home right away. So we had sex one more time.”
This is probably terrifying news for many of you, but it wasn’t too scary for Kiedis. He thought that if she told her father she loved Kiedis, then he wouldn’t do anything to him. He was aware that he needs to take her back, but they still had sex one more time.
