Cinderella drummer Fred Coury recently revealed details about an ongoing collaboration with Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx and acclaimed filmmaker Rob Minkoff, who directed Disney’s The Lion King. The project has been in development for the past four years and represents a significant creative partnership between the three artists.
“I am working on a project that we are doing,” Coury explained. “Nikki, me, and Rob Minkoff, who directed The Lion King, are working on something we’ve been doing for the last four years. That’s going well, and it’s a long process.” Coury emphasized that the collaboration is not a musical venture. The work is focused on television content rather than a new band. “This is all TV stuff,” he said. Both he and Sixx have multiple projects in development together. “We write very well together. We both approach it from different angles. It’s just a really great way to work. And we really enjoy working together in that capacity. So, really can’t say anything more than that.”
“It’s not, this isn’t a band. No, this is all for, no,” he added. “This is all TV stuff. So, yeah. There’s a lot of it. Boy, there’s a lot of it. But it’s good. We have a blast doing it, and everybody will see it when it’s time to be seen.”
The creative endeavor extends beyond traditional rock music into family entertainment and animation. Sixx has been actively developing television programming and animation projects aimed at family audiences over the past several years. Original music plays a central role in these ventures. The collaboration between Coury and Sixx has proven particularly productive, with the two musicians engaging in intensive writing sessions to produce material specifically designed for animated television content.
Rob Minkoff’s involvement brings considerable expertise to the project. His extensive background in animation and family entertainment makes him an ideal partner. Beyond his iconic work directing The Lion King, Minkoff has established himself as a versatile filmmaker with credits on other major animated productions and live-action family films. His directorial vision and experience in bringing animated stories to life position him perfectly for a project that combines music composition with visual storytelling.
The partnership between Coury and Sixx demonstrates their complementary creative approaches. Each brings distinct perspectives to the writing process. Their ability to work effectively together across multiple projects underscores a deep professional rapport that has yielded substantial creative output. The combination of Coury’s compositional skills and Sixx’s songwriting prowess, paired with Minkoff’s directorial expertise, positions the project as a potentially significant entry in the television animation landscape.
While specific details about the project remain under wraps, Coury assured that audiences will eventually see the results of their efforts. The four-year development timeline suggests a meticulous approach to production. The creators are taking time to refine their vision and ensure quality across all aspects of the project.
