Jaime, Chester Bennington’s child, shared his thoughts after his sibling, Draven, came out as transgender.
Jaime Bennington Shares Pride And Support For Draven’s Truth
“Draven, I’m so proud of you for speaking your truth,” Jaime posted on his Instagram story. “There is no other way to live than to accept yourself for all that you are. Congratulations and good luck.”
Jaime continued, “Over the New Year, I ALSO came out as transgender during my Year in Review PART 1. Not to mention that at the same time I was sharing this with the world, I received a serious death threat from a woman named Diana Elizabeth Carson (Quantum Lyricist), who, in addition to threatening my life, also threatened the Bennington family as a whole.”
“Yet, no one reported on either of those things. The Death Threat or the Transgender reveal. How strange is that??” Jaime asked in his follow-up story. “Despite everything that Samantha and Draven have put me through, I stood up for them when their lives were threatened. I still have not received an apology or an acknowledgment for any of it. And I am owed both from them.”
Jaime Calls Out The Unequal Playing Field
The musician added, “The point of me saying all of this is not to take this moment away from someone who deserves to speak their truth and be seen for it. Because they do deserve it. The point of these acknowledgments is to highlight the way that PRIVILEGE shapes a person’s experience. The difference between having a platform and a safety net and not having that.”
“Even if I have/am doing everything in my power to build one. So, while I’m proud of my brother/sister, and I do support them, I have to say something when I see something. The playing field is not level, balance is an illusion,” he further shared.
Jaime also stated, “And playing the field the way that they have is dirty. As an adult, Draven has been allowed to move wherever and however they want to. Existing beyond the limits of consequence. And I’m not about that.”
Chester Bennington’s 21-year-old child Draven recently came out as transgender on February 14. In an Instagram post, she shared that she started hormone replacement therapy in August 2024, calling it the best decision she’s made.
