Deen Castronovo, drummer for Journey, has deleted an Instagram post that fueled speculation about the future of singer Arnel Pineda with the band.
The now-removed post showed Castronovo alongside his bandmates attending a San Francisco 49ers game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. In the caption, Castronovo reflected on the outing, writing, “Good times at Levi’s Stadium last night with my brothers from Journey at the San Francisco 49ers game.”
What caught fans’ attention was Pineda’s response to the post, which immediately raised questions about his role moving forward. “Congratulations and have fun on your 2026 Farewell Tour,” Arnel Pineda commented.
The remark has been widely interpreted as a sign that Pineda may not be involved in Journey’s upcoming tour, adding to existing rumors of internal strain within the band.
The timing of the exchange is notable, as Journey is preparing to launch what is being billed as a major farewell run. The band’s Final Frontier Tour is scheduled to begin on February 28, 2026, at Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and will reportedly cover 60 cities across North America.
Speculation has been further fueled by recent appearances from guitarist Neal Schon alongside Castronovo, bassist Todd Jensen, and keyboardist Jason Derlatka—without Pineda or longtime keyboardist Jonathan Cain. These performances have included national television exposure on NBC’s The Voice and an NFL halftime show, prompting questions about a possible shift in the band’s core lineup.
As Journey moves closer to announcing full details of its farewell tour, uncertainty surrounding the lineup continues to grow. The deletion of Castronovo’s Instagram post, combined with Pineda’s pointed comment, has only intensified fan concern over whether the singer—who has fronted the band since 2007—will be part of Journey’s final chapter.
