“I don’t know,” the guitarist replied when asked if people’s reactions to his music make him feel more distant from religion. “I do what I think my fans like which is basically what I like cuz I consider myself an extension of them. I’m still a fan. I would go see Black Sabbath playing. I’ve seen [Judas] Priest a number of times. I haven’t seen them on this run but I saw them on ‘Firepower.'”

Then, he revealed that he also watched Skid Row perform live, saying, “I’m still the kid. I go. I went and saw Skid Row open for the Scorpions at the residency in Vegas.”

“Skid Row, the Scandinavian kid. He was great. The only thing missing was a rasp,” King shared about Erik Grönwall when asked who the Skid Row singer was at the time.” Then, the musician talked about Hale’s performance, “I just saw Lzzy doing it. Lzzy’s a stud.”

In March 2024, Skid Row announced that Hale would temporarily be the lead singer for the band during their summer concerts. She said it was special because Skid Row connected her love for ’80s metal with ’90s and 2000s metal. Hale performed four shows with the band in the U.S. but won’t be joining them permanently.

“My soul is still buzzing from the crazy ride I was just on,” Lzzy said on Instagram after her last show with Skid Row. “Thank you so much to Rachel, Snake, Scotti, Rob, their amazing crew and the entire Skid Row fan base for putting your trust in me. Thank you for bringing me into your tribe, and allowing me to live inside your legacy for a moment.”

The frontwoman continued, “What started out as friends helping out friends, bloomed into something bigger than any of us could’ve imagined. I’m overflowing with gratitude. This experience of getting to deep dive into Skid Row has given me a rare opportunity to deepen my love for these men I get to call friends. And the soul-bonding moments we created together musically will live with me forever.”

The Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan also talked about the first time Hale joined the band. He remembered getting chills when he heard her scream on stage. He described her as a ‘beast’ during their performances.
