Noel Gallagher Thinks Liam Gallagher Was A Better Frontman Than Him

Noel Gallagher praised his brother Liam’s abilities as a frontman in a recent chat on the Rockonteurs podcast with Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt. He said the Oasis singer was better at being a ‘salesman’ on stage than he ever was.

“Going solo, it’s like, I’m a terrible salesman,” Noel shared. “I’m the worst. Frontmen, what they are, are salesmen. They can f*cking sell anything, and they can make average songs sound great, and they can carry a night in an arena like no one else. I can’t do that, now.”

Liam led Oasis for years, with Noel occasionally stepping in for vocals before they broke up in 2009 and went their separate ways as solo artists.

“So, my songs now have to be twice as good as what they used to be,” Noel explained about his career after Oasis. “Because I can’t do that thing that—Liam was the best in the world at talking utter f*cking nonsense down a mic about furry skateboards and a f*cking corner poodle, and you [go], ‘What is he f*cking going [on about]?’ but people loved it.”

He continued, “The thing is I could never accept walking off-stage in the middle of a gig. I would never accept that. I would never accept not turning up, and the gig being canceled. That’s when I started to take singing seriously because I was like, ‘Well, I’m f*cking damned if I’ve come all the f*cking way here and I’m not having a night out.’ Because you’re all over.”

Noel and Liam openly beefed with each other for decades, holding off an Oasis reunion until recently. They announced a 14-date UK and Ireland tour together in 2025 just a few days ago.

The band will be back on the road after 16 years with shows in Cardiff, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Dublin, and more next July and August. The tour will likely extend beyond Europe after the ‘domestic leg.’

It’s still unclear who will join the Gallagher brothers on stage during the upcoming tour.
