Thy Art Is Murder recently announced that they had split with vocalist CJ McMahon and removed his vocals from their latest album ‘Godlike,’ partly due to his anti-trans comments and his overall character and judgement. Falling In Reverse’ Ronnie Radke took to X to demand his fans to boycott the band. He wrote:
“It’s time to stand the f*ck up and boycott this shit. Boycott Thy Art Is Murder. I will send 20,000 dollars to CJ [McMahon] right now tired of these spineless cowards bending to this shit ruining peoples lives. F*ck you.”
Even though the band did state that there were other issues that pushed them to make this decision, CJ’s anti-trans comments on the video he posted shared by right-wing political commentator Matt Walsh caused a stir.
In the video a mother asked her young child if they are a boy or a girl and accepted the child’s answer regardless with a laugh. CJ took to his now deleted Instagram account and commented that the mother in the video ‘should be burned to death.’ Although the singer did apologize through the band’s account the band did decide to let him go.
After Thy Art Is Murder’s statement, CJ informed fans with a brief statement a few days ago that he found out that he was kicked out of the band via social media. He said:
“I just woke up and saw the news. Yes this is how I found out. And yes it’s not the whole story. I’ll be going live tomorrow at 5pm Sydney Australia time. Burn everyone to death.”
The band also informed fans that they have re-recorded CJ’s vocals with someone a new vocalist they will announce soon. They also expressed that the new vocalist will be joining them for the ‘Godlike European Tour’ with Whitechapel, Fit For An Autopsy and Spite, which will kick off in a few days.
