Sammy Hagar made fun of Maynard James Keenan’s ‘side band’ Tool.
“You aren’t into some other band or some… You have a side band, Tool,” The Red Rocker told Keenan in an Instagram video where Keenan visited Sammy backstage at one of his recent shows.
“The Perfect Circle,” Maynard replied to him. “Oh, The Perfect Circle. That’s right but wait, aren’t you in another band, too though?” Hagar asked Keenan again in the rest of their conversation.
“Yeah yeah,” Maynard confirmed him. Hagar further asked, “What’s the name of that band?” “I can’t remember,” Keenan responded.
“He’s such a wise guy. Maynard Keenan in the house. My hero. This is the guy,” Hagar continued. “He’s the best artist in the world today, okay? There he is. Right here the best musical artist in the world today. Tool. My favorite band. He knows it. Listen for a second.” Keenan screamed by saying “What!” at the end of the video.
We know that Hagar and Keenan are close friends and they often tease each other. Last month, Hagar posted a video on Instagram showing him trying to cool down before going on stage in Phoenix, where it was 114 degrees. Keenan commented on the post.
“Bananas how hot it was on stage,” The Tool frontman commented on the heat. “You should’ve joined me you could’ve sang ‘Jump,'” Hagar made a joking offer.
In February, an Instagram page posted a video of Hagar showing his skills by putting a fighter in a headlock, with Keenan filming for ‘legal support.’ “In a unique turn of events, Sammy Hagar was promoted to Black Belt in BJJ last night in LA,” the caption read. “As soon as the knot was tied, he felt his new superpowers kick in and commenced with an a** whoopin’. Meanwhile, new BJJ Black Belt Maynard James Keenan filmed for legal support purposes. Following this incident, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman has offered Sammy a WBC title fight in Cabo.”
Interest grew when someone asked about a Hagar vs. Keenan match. Tour Training said a charity event is being planned.
