A few days ago, he had shared his port wine birthmark on Instagram and encouraged his followers to ‘find peace with who you are.’ “I’m a fan of body positivity movements because at the end of the day, it is about celebrating what makes us ‘us,'” he wrote in the caption.

Corgan posted a photo of himself in a purple sweater, with the sleeves rolled up to show his birthmark. After getting many reactions, he shared some videos to talk more about it.

“Never in a million years would I think that something like this would go viral. So I wanted to shed a little bit of light on the topic,” the vocalist started his words. “And maybe give a little bit more meat on the bone as we would say.”

He continued, “To my general understanding, a birthmark is formed when blood vessels don’t properly form when you’re in the womb. And because they never properly form. You end up with a stain. In this case, a ‘port wine’ stain. I obviously was born with the birthmark. There’s more up here. And we literally see people commenting that’s not a birthmark.”

“I was born with this birthmark. I have baby photos of the day I was born and I have this mark. It’s the exact same shape,” Corgan clarified. “It’s just bigger now because I’m bigger. Not that that’s important but I just think it’s worth pointing out that we live in this crazy world where even when you say, ‘Hey, this is a birthmark.’ Somebody’s gotta trot along and sort of question what you’re saying.”

In other videos, Billy mentioned what kind of reactions he would get while growing up and how he would try to hide his birthmark. He shared questions he used to get about his birthmark. He ended his post with a positive message for people with similar issues.
