Blink-182’s Travis Barker shared details about the band’s latest single, ‘Dance With Me.’ The drummer revealed why he hesitated about the song’s chorus and switched it to another part. Barker shared the details on X (formerly Twitter) while also pointing to the other parts of the song he changed as well. He said in his first tweet:
“The tempo for ‘Dance With Me’ was adjusted a few times until it felt perfect, and I simplified the verse kick drum pattern to really make the song danceable. I also ended up recording the drums 5 different times with different drum kits until I found the perfect drum sound for the song.”
The drummer had other plans for the chorus. In his following tweet, he revealed what part was more ideal in their song to be the chorus:
“Mark’s pre-chorus vocals/lyrics are one of my favorite Mark moments on the album. Tom’s outro/post-chorus vocal was almost the chorus but the simplicity of Ole’ Ole’ Ole’ Ole’ was undeniable and I switched it back to being the chorus.”
Barker didn’t only switch parts of the song but also added another element from another song that hasn’t been put in the album. He wrote:
“‘When I teach masturbation, I’m always just like, ‘Have fun with it’ was originally an outtake from another song that didn’t make the album. ‘Dance With Me’ was already mixed and mastered when I decided to add it to the beginning of the song.”
So it’s evident that the song could have been way more different than its currently released version. ‘Dance With Me’ is the fourth song released from the band’s upcoming studio album, ‘One More Time…’ and the album marks the first to be released since Tom Delonge’s rejoin. When I teach masturbation, I'm always just like, "Have fun with it" was originally an outtake from another song that didn’t make the album. “Dance with me” was already mixed and mastered when I decided to add it to the beginning of the song.
