Who is Alesana?

Alesana was formed in October 2004. Shawn Milke, Dennis Lee, Patrick Thompson, Steven Tomany, and Daniel Magnuson came together to create the band. The name ‘Alesana’ comes from Aliceanna Street in Baltimore. Founding members Milke and Thompson once lived on this street.

The band released their debut album, ‘On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax,’ in 2006. Kiddle Encyclopedia reports that Fearless Records reissued the album in 2008. This reissue expanded their reach in the post-hardcore scene.

Why They Went Inactive?

Recent personal events had an influence on the band’s career, especially in Dennis Lee’s life. Lee and his wife Cayce welcomed a daughter in late 2020, but she was born four months premature and spent nine months in the hospital. This situation naturally affected the band’s touring and writing schedule. So, this is why they weren’t that active during that period.

Alesana made a crucial decision in November 2024. They parted ways with longtime drummer Jeremy Bryan following sexual misconduct allegations. The band addressed the situation directly: “Alesana does not condone the actions alleged nor will we condone any retaliation from our fan base towards the person involved.”

Alesana had a full touring schedule in 2024. They regularly performed at festivals across the country. The band also increased their social media engagement and launched a new merchandise. Vocalist Dennis Lee personally oversees the printing of all apparel items.

The band also confirmed that they started working on a new album, but it remains in its early stages.
