Quicksand’s fifth studio album is their best since getting back together in 2012. The reunion years produced some decent records, but Bring On the Psychics is where things finally come together. This doesn’t feel like a band coasting on old goodwill — it feels like a band that still has something to say.

Ten tracks, about thirty minutes. That’s it. The short runtime is a smart choice. Every song earns its place, and nothing overstays its welcome.

The songwriting is tighter and more melodic than anything they’ve put out in the reunion era. The hooks land harder, the structures are cleaner, and the whole thing moves with a sense of purpose that their earlier comeback records sometimes lacked.

The production suits the material well. It’s polished but not sterile. The mix gives the riffs space to hit without making the record feel overworked or clinical.

This is a heavy album that doesn’t feel heavy to listen to. There’s real energy here — the kind that makes it easy to play front to back without skipping anything. Quicksand keeps the bite that made them worth caring about in the first place, while writing songs that are more immediately satisfying than before.

The post-hardcore and metalcore crowds have both picked up on it. That crossover appeal makes sense. The record has the rhythmic punch and melodic payoff that both audiences respond to.
