Tim Ripper Owens recently slammed the singers who changed their songs to sing better in live gigs. He was discussing his own career and the fact that he was still singing in his mid-50s during a char with the Metal Mixtape when the topic came up. Tim said:

“I’m so sick of watching singers… And I don’t care, I’m 56, and I’ve seen singers in their 50s that still couldn’t do it. I’m so sick of watching singers — I know they can do it, but they change their songs.”

The frontman then mentioned how there was no need to change which notes they’d hit, as things would be better if artists just stuck with the original versions. Owens pointed out:

“They lower it, they make new melodies, and they hit a high note for a second. And it’s, like, ‘Dude, sing what you wrote. Sing what you wrote…’

Ripper then explained how he felt about things getting tougher with age but also mentioned he was still able to sing Judas Priest, even the tough songs. He emphasized:

“I understand it gets tougher. But I can sing ‘Sermons of the Sinner.’ And these songs, the KK’S Priest songs, are harder to sing than the classic Priest songs, except maybe ‘Metal Meltdown.’”
