Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix recently shared his favorite young artists during an interview with 104.3 MYfm. He mentioned Jelly Roll as his top pick.
“So, younger artists that I’m really digging, there’s a band called Bring Me The Horizon I really like. Another one Teddy Swims. I really dig what he does. He’s got such a soulful voice and it’s also a guy like Jelly Roll,” Shaddix explained.
“He’s not necessarily like a younger artist but he’s having that break that he’s been working for his whole life and he deserves it man and the message he’s bringing to the people is powerful,” he added. So yeah, there’s some stuff bubbling up that underneath there that I just really dig. I listen to a very broad range of music. It goes from metal pop hip hop punk and those are just a couple that I’m feeling lately.”
Shaddix’s diverse music taste is evident in his band’s sound, as he often collaborates with artists from various genres. A recent example is the track ‘Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark),’ a collaboration with Carrie Underwood.
In an interview, he shared his top five favorite albums, showcasing his broad interests. They include Rage Against The Machine’s self-titled album, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers,’ as well as works by The Beatles, Kings Of Leon, and Wu-Tang Clan.
