Chester Bennington’s son Jaime Bennington shared his first statement after Linkin Park announced their new documentary, Unshatter. The documentary is set to capture the years following Bennington’s 2017 death. It also covers the band’s reformation with Emily Armstrong on vocals and Colin Brittain.

“You got exactly what you asked for. I hope all those who supported the r*ping, pillaging, and piecing of my father’s life work are happy,” Jaime Bennington said. “Welp. They did it. They completely erased him from the legacy, and they used his death as a launch pad.”

“Just know this: I hate you and I will hate you forever,” he continued.

The statement marks Jaime’s first public reaction to the documentary. He criticizes the surviving members of Linkin Park for ignoring his father’s legacy.

Linkin Park’s own Joe Hahn directed the documentary. It follows the band from early studio sessions in 2022 through the From Zero era and their Sao Paulo comeback show. The film blends archival footage, studio material, live performances, and new interviews. It tells the story of a band navigating loss and reinvention. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 30, 2026. Tickets go on sale August 13.

Jaime’s criticism arrives amid a broader controversy surrounding the band’s decision to continue without Bennington. The choice to bring in Emily Armstrong as the new vocalist sparked backlash from some fans. They pointed to Armstrong’s reported ties to Scientology and her earlier support for actor Danny Masterson. Masterson was convicted of rape. Armstrong later publicly distanced herself from Masterson. She stated she did not condone abuse or violence against women.

The tension between the band’s desire to move forward and the pain felt by those closest to Bennington has defined much of the discourse around Linkin Park’s return. For Jaime, the documentary appears to represent a final straw. He believes the project uses his father’s death as a commercial and narrative device rather than honoring his contributions.

The band hopes the film will serve as a testament to resilience. Whether it will also serve as a bridge between the band and Bennington’s family remains deeply uncertain.
